I just use shutdown -h now. Those commands will work. PBX in a Flash is nothing more than FreePBX and Asterisk with a different user interface.

The 79xx's are a whole different ballpark to be playing in. You have to load the configurations via TFTPboot.

As for the Chrome browser, in my videos I am using IE9. So if it works there, it will work in any browser (I switch between Firefox and IE9).

I am glad you found it useful. I do agree the Cisco (and Polycom) phones are a pain to figure out how to configure, but once you have one configured, the other ones are much less difficult to do. I do have a video made on how to configure the Cisco 79xx phones along with the configuration files. I also have documentation, firmware files, and configuration files on configuring the Polycom phones too. Once these are uploaded to the website, I will make a note of it here. And also, 2M voice may be easier, but where's the fun in that? :P

I now have a working PBX with the Cisco SPA502G over the HSMM-MESH.

I got 4 surplus phones of a local web site.

Even though they were brand new I had to do a factory reset to get access to the setup menus.

What I have noticed that I have to restart the Asterisk server via putty after each power down, is there something else I should be doing ?

You should not have manually start asterisk. I take mine to demos where no internet connection is present and it works perfectly every time. I installed the fake hardware clock and properly shutdown the RPi after every use.

Is your RPi connected to an internet-enabled mesh? The asterisk server starts automatically after a script set the internal clock to the correct time. If no internet connection is present, the script does not move on to starting asterisk (like an if-then statement).

So there are four ways to go about fixing this:

1. have an internet-enabled mesh system,
2. take a look at this documentation,
3. add a new file to the /etc/init.d/ directory that starts asterisk, or
4. continue doing what you are doing.

I cannot get the fake-hwclock to install.

With the windows computer normally connected by wifi, internet access is OK.

With the PC connected to the mesh network so that I can talk to the Rpi I can not get access to the internet, and thus the fake HWclock times out.

I have tried to connect my mesh network to the internet, but still do not get access to the www.

If you could give me some pointers to get over this hurdle it would be great.

For an internet-enabled mesh system, you will need to plug an Ethernet cord from your home router into the WAN port (more than likely labeled "Internet") of one of your mesh nodes. Next, you need to login to that node, click on setup, enter the username and password, click on the check box labeled "Mesh Gateway," and then reboot that mesh node. Only one node needs this in the mesh network in order to get internet to all devices plugged into the mesh network.

Thanks Paul, I have tried a couple of different things to get the network to work.

I now have it working and HW clock now installed.

The intention is to use the Asterisk server in our emergency communication group.

You're welcome, Glen. Just remember to shutdown the RPi by typing "shutdown -h now" and you will be good to go!

It really is that easy!

Well, I finally got raspbx image loaded to the usb hard drive earlier this morning. Took me

around four hours to figure out how to get it so that it was not corrupted on the HD.

Had to utilize Imagewriter (actually usb-imagewriter) on my Ubuntu desktop to get the image

loaded and where I could move the files from the boot partition to the small sd card I wanted to use.

The 'sudo dd' commands that were on the asterisk-pi web page in the documentation just would not

put a uncorrupted image on anything I tried. Did as the documentation said and nada. :(

Wondering what I was doing wrong. I was utilizing the latest and greatest image download that

was available.

As it is now, my pi has been running for the past eight hours with not a burp other than when

I was logged in on ssh and shut it down when I meant that I wanted the laptop I was toying with

to shutdown. That laptop was my only puter I have with a sd slot on it. Have another but I just

don't trust windoze that much for doing an image transfer.

I didn't watch the video until about an hour ago :)  It did help me on one thing that I had forgotten

about : the passwords to log in via the web portal <L> Was driving me bonkers not being able to

log in that way and do anything.

As for it working, I won't have my two spa1001's until a few days before FD. Been toying with it

though using Linphone. tried to call things like 'kd4dla@raspbx-w8iss' and other numbers (1234,

w8iss). Keep getting an automated message from the pi telling me that that users account is not

set up, which I am taking as that the raspbx is working :) I'll probably be posting in a few days

asking for help with those.

BTW - this is not on any of my hsmm boxes yet as I want to test it out before I toss it onto

those.

I figure that if I can get this far in setting things up and not have to do a 'shout out' for help,

almost anyone can do this. Granted I have about ten years of utilizing a version of linux in one

form or another, that probably helped out also.

As far as the 'shutdown' command to properly shut things down, do a 'man shutdown' command

and you'll find the meanings of '-r' and '-h' and a few others that might help out.

I am planning to install hsmm-pi, gpsd, and ntpd along with a real-time clock board onto this also.

I have had hsmm-pi running on another card for the past year. Need to test the update and go from

there. I have heard there are some nice features added to hsmm-pi that I am going to like :)

Well, this has been an interesting weekend with raspbx.

Got things working finally for the extensions a little bit ago. For some reason, the android sip would not

accept incoming calls but could send them. As for text messages, could send both ways.

The other extension is for the windoze laptop. That seems to have been working ever since I created

that extension Saturday morning. Could call and text both ways with Linphone.

To my surprise tonight when I took a look at my gmail account, there were four messages from the

pi telling me that I had some voice mail recordings to listen to. For this feature, I thought it was not

enabled until I entered somewhere in the pbx admin pages the smtp and pop mail settings. Going

to have to take a look at that feature and see how that could be used to send messages to a Jnos

system that I plan to have hooked up once I get things more advanced. I know it can be done, just

been a while since I have done it.

I don't think I will be taking this out for FD this year for each station to talk to each other. Not mature

enough to not have to worry about yet.

I now have two SPA1001's and two SPA2102's coming to tinker with. Now to figure out how to have

an old android phone be able to talk to a hsmm node directly. Can that be done?
